  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
  7. Drop tablespoons of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet and create a small indentation in the center of each.
  8. Fill the indentation with the cream cheese mixture.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until set. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder to the dough.
  • These cookies can be frozen for up to three months.
