Ingredients

  • 1 cup moong dal (split green gram)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomato
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Soak the moong dal in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Drain the water and blend the moong dal to a smooth batter, adding a little water if necessary.
  3. In a bowl, combine the blended dal with turmeric, cumin seeds, red chili powder, green chili, onion, tomato, coriander leaves, and salt.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet and spread it evenly to form a pancake.
  6. Cook until the edges turn golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
  7. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Notes

  • You can add grated vegetables like carrots or spinach to the batter for added nutrition.
  • Serve with yogurt or chutney for a tasty dip.
